Meet Head Trainer Emma and Demo Dogs

Credentials Listed Further Down

Emma’s love for dog training started at a very young age with her family dogs Mellow an American Pit Bull Terrier and Graham a small shelter mutt. She was interested at an early age in helping them through dog reactivity and basic dog manners. Through working with a local trainer she was able to learn a lot about dog behavior and training. She was able to successfully train through both their reactivity and manner training, using only harnesses & flat collars. From there she found a huge joy in working with dogs and went on to volunteer at 4paws for ability a service dog organization along with working with neighborhood dogs. I worked with many different dogs with many different things over this time before eventually volunteering at Cincinnati Animal Care and League for Animal Welfare where I worked with many different shelter dogs through fears, basic training, and reactivity to make them more successful in their forever homes. I got a job offer from League for Animal Welfare as a staff trainer however had to unfortunately decline due to commute distance. She then started mentoring multiple trainers at dog wizard Cincinnati where she was able to work with rehab cases, puppies, therapy dogs, and more! this really set her up for success in training especially behavioral modification. Emma got her personal service dog Oakley in 2023 and owner trained him to the amazing service dog he is today and got her 2nd service dog Ivy in 2024 where she also partially trained her other than some of the basic training and foundations she came with. Emma has experience working with a variety of training methods between r+, LIMA, and balanced. she found her spot in training between LIMA & balanced training with a main focus of following the humane hierarchy for training however she is not totally against the use of tools like slip leads, gentle leaders, prong collars etc when it may offer benefits or the dog owners want to use one. Our main goal with owners that want to use a tool is teaching them proper fitting and usage. In July 2024 Emma officially launched Lavender Dog Training after training dogs for years. She worked with a variety of dogs between service dogs, pet dogs, and behavioral dogs before and into her time owning Lavender Dog Training. Now, through all her experience and education she feels confident in empowering dog owners through training with their dogs!

Emma is a disabled woman who is a full-time wheelchair user however this does not limit her abilities to work with dogs and their owners of all types. Emma also supports the minorities she serves and tries her best to bridge the gap between quality and affordable dog training.

Oakley is a 5-year-old fully trained service dog who is a mix of Golden Retriever, Australian Shepherd, and American Cattle Dog. He is currently a multipurpose service dog in seizure alert, glucose alert, mobility, psych, and more! He also has touched into some dog sports including Dock Diving, Fast CAT, Agility, and Scent Work. Oakley was a rescue stray who turned into the amazing dog he is today.

Ivy is a 2.5-year-old fully trained service dog who is an Australian Shepherd. She is currently a multipurpose service dog in cardiac alert, allergen detection, mobility, psych, and more! She has touched into some dog sports including Fast CAT, Fetch, Agility, and is hopefully started Rally soon. Ivy was a Facebook rehome who originally came from Craigslist. Her previous owner was training her through the basics and foundations to become a service dog before realizing she did not fit her lifestyle. She got temperament tested by a trainer before ultimately coming home to me as a service dog in training.

Oakley and Ivy may be seen on our training page or during lessons as demo dogs to help owners and dogs through training!
